Sigil Wins VA Contract to Attract, Support, and Retain Talented Nurses
Nurses are the backbone of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), providing essential care and support to more than nine million veterans in 1,255 health care facilities across the nation.
The COVID-19 pandemic revealed opportunities to strengthen VA’s nursing workforce in the face of challenges seen by many American health care institutions, including staffing shortages and supply chain disruptions.
Sigil, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and joint venture comprised of professionals from DCG and The Crux Firm, has been awarded a contract to support VHA’s Office of Nursing Services (ONS) in attracting, supporting, and retaining talented nurses to help VHA enhance its nursing workforce.
As part of this three-year contract, Sigil, joined by partner ECS, will develop strategies and programs to support the implementation of the ONS Nursing Workforce Strategic Plan (NWSP) to attract nurses to VHA with the goal of retaining them for their full career. To appeal to this important workforce that directly engages with veterans and impacts their lives, Sigil will focus on what nurses need to reach their professional goals, including clinical practice, education, research, and leadership.
As Sigil works hand in hand with ONS to develop and implement innovative tactics, our team will be guided by the NWSP, including its four pillars: optimizing nursing practice, strengthening the nursing workforce, reimagining lifelong learning and career development, and inspiring an industry-leading culture.
Sigil is uniquely qualified to take on this work. We currently support ONS through two contracts: ONS Annual Report Support Services and VHA Office of Healthcare Innovation and Learning (OHIL) Services. Our team has deep familiarity with major VHA initiatives and VA’s overall mission.
We’re committed to supporting ONS and VA nurses. By working together, we can ensure VA nurses have the resources and support they need to continue their vital work and elevate the standard of care for all veterans.
