DCG and DHS CP3 Partner for Safer Communities and Achieve Gold
Tragic attacks in schools, businesses, and community spaces serve as painful reminders that terrorism is not the only form of targeted violence affecting the United States. In response to the evolving landscape of targeted violence, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) established the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3) in 2021, bringing on DCG as its top-tier, strategic communications partner.
DCG supports DHS CP3’s public health approach, which prioritizes the safety and well-being of the entire population. Together, through strategic communications, we have taken active measures to help prevent all forms of targeted violence. These collaborative efforts were recently recognized by the 2024 Marcom Awards.
CP3 in Action
CP3 strengthens our country’s targeted violence and terrorism prevention abilities through funding, training, increased public awareness, and partnerships across every level of government, the private sector, and in local communities. Through convening Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention (TVTP) providers and curating TVTP research and best practices, CP3 helps states and communities build TVTP strategies and prevention programs.
The DCG CP3 Team
CP3 and DCG are collaborating to develop and execute a three-year communications strategy to advance the center’s mission and pivot to a national-level focus. DCG developed an integrated campaign to increase national awareness of CP3, scale its prevention activities across the country, and rigorously evaluate their impact. During our partnership, DCG has provided:
- Strategic communications planning
- Internal and external communications
- Editorial services
- Creative development
- 508 compliance review and remediation
- Event management and support
- Research and message testing
- Website content development
- Reporting and measurement
2024 Highlights Include Industry Recognition
As 2024 comes to a close, we couldn’t be prouder of our team’s creativity, hard work, and dedication this year. The DCG CP3 team was honored to receive some well-deserved recognition in the form of Marcom Awards, earning Gold for the design and development of the department’s new website and Honorable Mention for exceptional video production.
New Website Streamlines Navigation
Regarding the new website, DCG set out to update CP3’s website presence within the DHS website. The original site consisted of a landing page and two subpages, which were long and dense, with few entry points and limited navigation. Visuals were not clearly related to content or branding, and the use of technical and specialized language made it difficult for the everyday user to understand.
DCG conducted a Useability Review and Analysis, a Readability and 508 Compliance review, a Keyword Search study, and a Backlink review. DCG conducted 1:1 and focus group exercises with internal and external stakeholders. These activities guided the creation of a new site map and navigation, which included several new pages showcasing the wealth of resources, programs, and opportunities that CP3 has to offer.
Multiple entry points and clean navigation now help the user find what they need. Consistent use of photography throughout the site conveys warmth and engagement. Basic information defining CP3 and its purpose is laid out at the very beginning. Plain language combined with engaging multimedia helps keep the content accessible and engaging.
The CP3 News and Updates page features quick links to the latest content and profiles of prevention providers across the United States. Content is updated regularly with blog posts, resource highlights, a quarterly newsletter, and more so readers are informed on the latest exciting events and engagements occurring throughout CP3.
The CP3 Resources page is a central hub for CP3-specific resources, such as program overviews, prevention resources, and grant program opportunities. TVTP resources developed outside of CP3, like evidence-based research, training opportunities, and community support, are also available here.
Don’t miss an update — sign up for CP3 emails by selecting “Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships.”
The newly added features help the public stay up to date with CP3 news, participate in informational webinars and events, and explore the many programs and resources that drive change in the field of prevention — all in one place.
