Happy Mother’s Day to the Moms of DCG
Motherhood comes in many different forms, from caring for little ones to being mom to grown kids, or even human parents to four-legged fur babies. This Mother’s Day, we pay tribute to all the incredible moms of DCG and recognize the many roles they take on at work, at home, and everywhere in between.
Some of our team members shared what motherhood means to them: the messy, magical, meaningful moments that make it all worth it.
Erin Kunkle | Mom to Carter, 10, and Bowen, 9
“Being a mother means loving fiercely — and fighting just as fiercely for a future where our kids can grow up in a world that’s fair, just, and full of possibility. That fight is part of my love for them.”

Sydney Anderson | Mom to Doug
“Some parents move for better school districts — I moved because my son couldn’t do stairs. Doug became my son the day I adopted him in 2019, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. We’ve been through a lot together — the highs, the lows, and even a major move when his hip dysplasia made stairs too painful, so I sold my two-story and bought a ranch. He rules the house, is loved endlessly by Mom and Dad, and yes, he knows it.”

Kim Van Wyngaardt | Mom to Cameron, 24
“I had Cameron in my mid-twenties, and maybe that’s why we’ve always felt like a perfect combo of best friends and mother and daughter. We’ve grown together — laughing until we cry, finishing each other’s sentences, and turning everyday moments into lifelong inside jokes. There have been tough times, too, and we continue to navigate those by having tough conversations. Being Cameron’s mom has been the greatest joy of my life, and I could not be prouder of the young woman she is.”

Canden Byrd | Mom to Beau
“I was in the absolute lowest part of my life when I saw Beau’s picture on Facebook, where my friend had posted him ‘for free’ because he was found on the side of the road in a cardboard box. ☹ When I picked him up out of pure impulse, I completely panicked and had no idea what to do, but figuring it out has been the biggest joy of my life. Everyone always talks about ‘rescuing dogs’ but I can confidently say that Beau rescued me.” 💖
